The Catawba-Marblehead Parade of Homes is here! This weekend, June 28 and 29, literally hundreds of folks will be following the Parade of Homes trail on Catawba and Marblehead. We are having our Salvation Army fundraising party at Mon Ami tonight (Thursday, June 26) from 5-7 p.m. Entrance fee is just $10 for a special wine & appetizer extravaganza. You can buy your tickets at the door, or in advance at The Beacon office, Mon Ami, or Salvation Army in the Sutton Center.
This Saturday evening is the 3rd Annual Bluegrass Jam at the Liberty Aviation Museum hangar on State Rd. just west of the Rt. 53 N exit off Route 2. The popular Ottawa County Bluegrass Band and the Willow Creek Band from Lebanon, Ohio, will entertain from 6 to 11 p.m., rain or shine. The $6 admission fee will include the music and self guided tours of the museum. Food, soft drinks, beer and wine will also be available.
Otterbein North Shore will host an all-day open house and concert on the lawn on Saturday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. During the open house, you can enter to win a flat screen TV and tour their model patio home and apartment. At 4 p.m. there will be music in the air featuring Tim Blake and Michele, talented musicians and entertainers from the Cleveland area. It will be an outdoor concert so bring your lawn chairs. Appetizers and cold beverages will be provide.
You have an opportunity to experience the art form of “Impressionism” presented by artist Sean Crum. It all starts this evening at 7 p.m., at the Ida Rupp Public Library in Port Clinton, on Madison Street just south of the train viaduct.
The 46th Annual Chicken and Ribs Barbecue will be held this Sunday, June 29, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Erie Township Hall in Lacarne just off State Route 163 between Port Clinton and Oak Harbor. A chicken dinner is $8.50 and ribs are $12.50. Enjoy!
The Oak Harbor Conservation Club Youth Fishing Derby will be held this Saturday, June 28, at the Club’s facility at 975 Gordon Rd. near Oak Harbor. The event is free and open to the public for kids 3-12. All younsters must be accompanied by an adult and must bring their own fishing poles. Bait will be provided. Participants will receive a coupon for 1 hot dog and 1 beverage. Food will also be available for adults to purchase. Sign in starts at 11 a.m. and fishing starts at noon. State Representative Chris Redfern will hold another of his Town Hall Meetings this Monday at 5 p.m. at Port Clinton City Council Chambers. He will also provide a brief overview of actions in the State Legislature.

Earlier this month, the Catawba Island Club golf links hosted 74 junior golfers from Northwest Ohio. In the 14-16 year old age division, three local golfers took the top three spots: Noah Sampson (75); Anthony Paradiso (78) and Chase Rotsinger (80).
The 6th Annual Howard Hanna Choo Choo Chow Chow Golf outing benefiting the Children’s Free Care Fund will be held on Monday, August 11, at Catawba Island Club. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $125 which includes a continental breakfast, a snack and lunch.
