All young ghouls and goblins are invited to come to downtown Port Clinton for a special Trick or Treat this Saturday, October 25 from 1-3 p.m. Just look for the pumpkins in the windows of participating businesses and the orange and black balloons. It’s the Cops and Robbers Road Chase 5K this Saturday through the streets of Port Clinton, sponsored by Ottawa County FOPA Lodge #34. All proceeds go to their scholarship fund. The entry fee is $25 and t-Shirts will be given to all competitors while supplies last. The Run/Walk begins at 9 a.m. with registration starting at 8 a.m. at the Jefferson St. Pier.
The St. Joseph/Marblehead Knights of Columbus Clam Bake and Chicken Dinner is this Saturday, October 25, from 5-7 p.m. at the Church Hall on Barclay St. in Marblehead. The event benefits the Danbury Food Pantry. Tickets are $9.95 for a chicken dinner only and $19.95 for the full clambake dinner. This Sunday, October 26, the Oak Harbor Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring an all you can eat sausage gravy and biscuits family breakfast at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They begin serving at 9 a.m. The menu includes scrambled eggs and ham, homemade rolls, homemade applesauce, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. The donation is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Proceeds benefit Joyful Connections in their mission to provide a healthy, safe and homelike environment where children can interact with family members who are divorced or separated.
Last Wednesday, the local Kiwanians “passed the fireman’s hat” to help with the Port Clinton Volunteer Fire Department’s Feather Party on November 8. They raised nearly $1,100, thanks in large measure to a generous contribution from Andy Benko, who matched what was donated at the meeting. “Stick it to Andy” was the popular theme!!! Also, don’t forget to make your plans and buy your tickets to the Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton’s 3rd Annual Evening at the Races on Friday, November 14 at Lock, Dock & Barrel. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased from any Kiwanian or at the door the night of the event.
Otterbein North Shore Retirement Community is hosting a Ladies Lunch & Style Show next Thursday, October 30, at noon. They need RSVP by Friday, October 24, for this one.
The men of Immaculate Conception Church will present their annual all you can eat spaghetti dinner next Saturday, November 1, in the school gym from 6-8 p.m. Adults are $9 and children under 7 eat for free. Carryouts will be available. Extra sauce is also available at $7 per quart. All proceeds benefit the Parish.

Edgewood Manor Nursing Center will host Trick or Treat for children ages 10 and under on Monday, October 27, from 6-7:30 p.m. A panel of judges will award prizes for the top 3 costumes. There will be cider and donuts for all.

The longer we head into October, the closer we get to the Christmas Holiday Season. With that in mind, we are now less than 3 weeks away from the big 21st Annual Kickoff Breakfast for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. According to local Director Maureen Saponari, “this is an opportunity for us to thank our Red Kettle Bell Ringers and have them sign up to ring the bell for the upcoming season”.
